The interdisciplinary art event F.A.R.T. is back in the center of Rotterdam for a second edition, October the 30th. The event has grown into a true minifestival with a full program in a hotel, a nearby hostel and a party in two warehouses. After the success of the first edition in Hotel Central, late October last year, it's now time for the follow up.

Art, fashion and performances in hotel rooms

F.A.R.T. is an event that presents upcoming and more well known talents in art, design, fashion, lifestyle, performance and music. This time Boutique Hotel Quartier du Port (formerly Hotel Philedelphia) and the nextdoor Hostel ROOM at the Scheepvaartkwartier in Rotterdam will be the perfect setting.
The atmosphere and the temporality of staying in a hotel room is the starting point. Visitors will expe- rience a various mix of mini-exhibitions, art installations, (music) performances, fashion and film,- and video work. The entire hotel with all hotel rooms and rooms in the nextdoor hostel are the playground for 30 artists. The program in the hotel and the hostel starts at 8 pm and ends at midnight. Then the party will take over.

Music party at warehouses

Of course F.A.R.T. isn’t complete without a big party with live bands, DJs and more performances.
This time we decided to have a (live) party at two warehouses at Westelijk Handelsterrein just across the street. The party starts starts at 11 pm and eveyone is invited: visitors, artists and guests. Expect a full program with music and more performances. We will party till 5 am.

F.A.R.T. (Fashion& Art): 30 Designers and Artists exhibiting in one hotel

One night in a hotel can be exciting, mysterious, plain business or just comfortable and relaxing. In any case it is a temporary visit for the guest: a strange bed, away from home.
The anonymous room always displays a unique atmosphere defined by their diverse guests. These various atmospheres and the temporary character of a stay in a hotel are the initial concept of F.A.R.T.

Multi Fashion – Art

F.A.R.T. is the first ever multi Fashion – Art Event in a hotel in Rotterdam. For one night it will give thirty artists, designers and performers the chance to show their work in a totally different way. The atmosphere of a hotel can inspire them and bring them together. A space different from just a gallery, a fashion shop or a theatre, but with more heart, excitement and characteristic quality; this is the main thought behind it all according to the initiators and organizers Pietra Ligura and Remco Beeskow.
Thirty hotel rooms on the first and second floors of the hotel will be the backdrop for upcoming and more established creative talent. Every participant will get his or her own hotel room to show their work to the public in a surprising way.
F.A.R.T in Grand Hotel Central will offer the public a multifaceted art program with photography, painting, illustration, video, film, textures, collage, objects, fashion, styling, design, music, performance and entertainment. The disciplines will be presented either combined or stand autonomous.
The idea of an Art-Hotel where artists ‘pimp’ a hotel with a permanent intervention to a higher esthetic level is well known. F.A.R.T. is defined by a different principle: the temporary character of just one night in a distinct hotel.
F.A.R.T. wants to show that the entourage and atmosphere of the hotel and its rooms can be developed in a ‘one day/night only’ artful and adventurous event, where talent is able to present themselves in its own determent way.
Beside the more established artists Ligura and Beeskow’s main focus is to guide the upcoming talent: they are directors, making sure there will be a plenty of diversity in the program.

F.A.R.T.

Beside the temporary character of a night in a hotel room and an art happening on one evening, F.A.R.T chooses ‘cross-pollination’ by showing a compact and interdisciplinary
program.
Public and artists will meet and interact with one another in an expansive and adventurous program on the first and second floors of the hotel.
F.A.R.T was initiated, because of the abundance of creative talent, combined with the lack of a broad ‘podium’ available in the heart of the city Rotterdam: no place to show themselves for each other or the public.
An adventurous and imaginative location for artists and public alike to come together, where there is a constant exchange of ideas and creations, but most of all to inspire and impassion is what the initiators are after.
Hotel rooms will undergo a temporary metamorphosis: transformed by magic into an interactive adventure with original studios, exhibition spaces, performances, movie rooms and a witty fashion – or art sale: surprise and artistry are first and foremost represented in this spectacle.
The evening starts at 9:00 PM. Female guides will guide you through the rooms. This is not mandatory: you can roam around freely.
At midnight the rooms will be closed for the public and the night will go on with a Big Bang with a F.A.R.T.Y party in the restaurant on the ground floor.There will be performances of J.C. Thomasz & The Missing Slippers, Kate & Leopolt, finger foods, cake and Old Dutch treats and of course dj’s: an evening not to be forgotten and most certainly not to be missed.

Grand Hotel Central

Grand Hotel Central, Rotterdam, the moment you walk in it is obvious: a hotel with a authentic feel. In the past years we have witnessed many a splendid small-scale hip events in the lobby of this hotel. This hotel facilitates and participates like no other, it gets media attention, in short it is ‘the place to be’ for the creative crowd and to have a cool party right in the middle of the city. The hotel quests are invited and no one will complain….
